Workflow for proteomics studies in inflammatory lung diseases using blood EVs. First, from blood samples collected from patients and control cases, EVs are extracted. Proteomics, mainly mass spectrometry-based proteomics, is conducted on these EV samples. The obtained proteomic data are compared between patients and controls to identify candidate biomarkers or key molecules associated with the diseases. The results are validated in an independent cohort to confirm the promising candidates. Subsequent studies include the validation of these candidates using clinically applicable measurement systems and biological analyses to elucidate the pathophysiological mechanisms regulated by the identified molecules.
